Bandipora: An awareness camp was organized Saturday by National Handloom Development Corporation in collaboration with Hastkala Sahyog Shivir and Handloom Department here Saturday.
MLA Bandipora Usmaan Majeed, District Development Commissioner Bandipora Sajad Hussain, besides officers and a good number of weavers were present at the camp.
On the occasion, the participants were sensitized about the existing schemes including Yarn Supply Scheme under which 10 percent subsidy is being given to beneficiaries. The modalities of “Mudra Scheme” were elaborated and youths were advised to get themselves registered under this scheme.
The MLA on the occasion stressed for organizing awareness programs in remote and hilly areas. He appealed the people to avail benefits from welfare schemes, saying that these schemes have become imperative to combat unemployment problem. The MLA also distributed passbooks under Yarn Supply scheme among 110 weavers.
The DDC in his speech enjoined upon the officers and bankers to make quick disposal of pending cases so that more and more income generating units are set up in the district.
F A Malik from Handloom Corporation and Assistant Director Handloom A M Mir were also present during the program.
