Bali launches vigorous sanitation drive at GMCJ

Jammu: Minister for Health & Medical Education, Bali Bhagat launched a day-long vigorous sanitation drive being organized by the Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation (SNCF) at Government Medical College, here Saturday.

Principal GMC, Dr. Sunanda Raina, Medical Superintendent, Dr. Dara Singh, Zonal Head of SNCF, S. Ajit Singh and hundreds of volunteers of the Nirankari Foundation and doctors and para-medics of GMC were present on the occasion.

As a tribute to former head of the SNCF Baba Hardev Singh on his 64th birth anniversary, the sanitation drive is being organized by the volunteers of this social organization throughout the country in all hospital premises and other public places like railway stations, bus stands etc. In Jammu also, the drive was also carried out at other city hospitals including, SMGS, Sarwal, Gandhi Nagar, besides Jammu Railway Station, Bus Stand.

While interacting with the media persons on the occasion, the Minister highlighted the role of Sant Nirankari Foundation Trust and said this one of world’s prominent social organization is doing yeoman’s service to the society. He said the Foundation is rendering several social activities and serving the mankind for the past many decades and contributing immensely. He said the Government always acknowledges their good work, especially in the field of health and education. He complimented the Zonal head and all volunteers for their self-less services to the society and organizing frequent blood donation camps and sanitation drives.

The Zonal Head SNFT informed that the sanitation drive which was initially launched by the Foundation head late Baba Hardev Singh himself in the year 2003 and is a routine affair every year to mark his birth anniversary. He said the foundation is also carrying out several social activities with special focus on eradication of social evils, organizing blood donation camps and free medical, eye for the poor frequently across the State.

The foundation also distributed free tea and snacks to the patients and all those present on the occasion.
