Dir School Edu(K) puts time bound promotions of ReT teachers on hold

Srinagar: Directorate of School Education has reportedly put the time bound promotions of ReT teachers on hold, citing non-availability of arrears.
The deserved ReT teachers have alleged that Directorate has put their files in cold storage and from past four months no attention is being paid to mitigate their sufferings.
The move of the Directorate has invited sharp criticism from these teachers.
Authoritative sources disclosed that Director school Education Kashmir Dr G N Itoo has refused to approve time bound promotions of hundreds of 3rd ReTs citing non availability of arrears as basic reason.
Sources said that Director has directed to his subordinate staff not to put up these files for approval unless issue related to arrears is resolved which will be taken up with concerned Minister.
An official said that time bound promotion is an accepted rule under CSRs and it is due whenever a regular employee completes 9 year service and it has nothing to do with arrears.
He said all these teachers are falling in normal category of posts and are drawing their salaries from state sector.
A group of these teachers while seeking the intervention of Minister for Education alleged that Director Education is raising unwanted queries to stop their promotions.
They said more than two hundred files are in queue for want of Directors signatures.
Despite repeated attempts, Director Education could not be contacted.
