Baramulla: Police on Thursday claimed that it recovered contrabands of 460 Codeine syrup bottles from two notorious drug peddlers in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
A police official said that a truck carrying food grains used to transport drugs, saying police made a recovery of 460 bottles of Codeine Phosphate Syrup and arrested two notorious drug peddlers.
Police said that a naka party of police station Baramulla got alerted when they saw some suspicious activities taking place in a truck bearing registration No: JK02 AG 8069 at Kralhar near FCI godown.
“On checking the cabin of truck 460 bottles of Codeine phosphate syrup were recovered,” police said.
Police said a case FIR no of 2018 under section 8/21 NDPS Act of Police Station Baramulla has been registered and driver of the truck namely Manoj Kumar Bhatt S/o Pradeaman Bhatt R/o Subash Nagar Rehari Colony Jammu and his accomplice namely Gh Mohi Ud Din Akhoon S/o Mohd Yousuf Akhoon R/o of Khaitangan Baramulla were arrested from the spot.
“Both the arrested individuals have a previous criminal record. Investigation of the case has been set into motion to ascertain the origin of the consignment,” police added.
