Jammu: Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh, Wednesday said the government is committed to solve the problems being faced by the people living alongside the international border.

The Deputy Chief Minister was addressing officers during a meeting convened to discuss the issues confronting the people living alongside the International Border in Jammu division.

Principal Secretary Home, R.K. Goyal, Additional Commissioner, Jammu, Deputy Commissioner, Kathua and senior officers were present.

It was decided that issues like providing reservation to people living alongside the International Border (IB) on the pattern of those living on Line of Control would be taken up with the concerned for early redressal. It was also decided that the demand of providing compensation to the people whose properties like land has been acquired for defense purposes would be taken after proper quantification of the losses with the concerned.

Dr Singh said the people living alongside the IB have been rendering sacrifices for the cause of the nation and it is imperative that we should be aware to the problems being faced by them by ensuring their timely redressal.

Later, Deputy Chief Minister also met a deputation from different parts of Bhaderwah constituency led by MLA, Dalip Singh Parihar and projected several issues related to the power sector like construction of a receiving station at Changa and up gradation of the receiving station at Gandoh besides installation of a new 132 KV transmission line from Doda to Bharedwah.

Deputy Chief Minister assured the deputations that all their genuine issues would be looked into and redressed properly.

A deputation of the Civil Secretariat Non GazettedEmployees’ union led by its President GR Mir and Vice president Suresh Bedi also called on the Deputy Chief Minister and projected the issue of extending the benefits of the Flag Ship program Housing For All (HAL) to the employees of the Civil Secretariat.
