Develop products, technologies to meet local challenges, aspirations: Ganga to Ers

Jammu: Budding engineers should focus on creating eco friendly products, technologies keeping in view the local challenges and aspirations.
This was stated by Minister for Industries and Commerce Chander Prakash Ganga at the concluding event of two day 5th National Conference and Exhibition on ‘Emerging and Innovative trends in Engineering Technology’ (NCEEITET) organized by Government College of Engineering and Technology (GCET) in collaboration with IIT Kharagpur concluded Tuesday at GCET Campus, Chak Bhalwal, Jammu.
Ganga said young engineers can play a pivotal role in helping India achieve a dominant position in world economy. He said events like these prove as incubators for shaping the future of technocrats. He thanked the organizers for providing a common platform for exchange of innovative ideas and knowledge between the academicians, students, researcher and industry.
Lauding the role of various CPSUs/PSUs in the development of the country, he exhorted upon industry professionals to also take up J&K State development under the corporate social responsibility.
Two-day program of the conference comprised of talks from eminent personalities from research and industry. Besides workshops and exhibits display by CPSUs/PSUs about the evolving technologies in their respective fields were organized as part of the conference.
The reputed industries and companies like NHPC, Power Grid, CVPP, KONKON Railways, BSNL, JKSPDC, SIEMENS, JKEDA, IRCON, DRDO, NIELIT, EESL participated in the event.
Principal Secretary Higher Education Department Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon, Director, IIT Jammu Dr. Manoj Singh Gaur, Principal GCET Dr. Sameru Sharma, Senior faculty IIT Kharagpur Prof SS Phatak distinguished guests, staff of the GCET and students from various engineering institutes of J&K and other states were present on the occasion.
