Srinagar: In a first, a Revenue Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) has been created wherein 5% of the cost of the state land acquired for any infrastructure development project will be charged and for other land acquired for the projects 2% will be charged by the revenue department.

Giving the information about the Fund, Minister for Revenue, Hajj & Auqaf and Parliamentary Affairs, Abdul Rehman Veeri said the RIDF has been created to create the infrastructure of the revenue department in every area of the State.

“Revenue department is the coordinating department and creating assets of this department which will streamline the work culture of other departments as well. Besides, the fund will safeguard the state land so that a land resource bank is created. The land resource bank will help in the best use of the land for asset creation,” he said during a high-level Revenue department meeting here.

Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmed Khan, Deputy Commissioners, Additional Deputy Commissioners, Assistant Commissioner Revenues, Additional Deputy Commissioners, Sub District Magistrates were present at the meeting.

He said government is taking various measures to bring vibrancy to the revenue department. The Minister said serving people is the top priority of the present dispensation. He asked the officers to ensure the presence of patwaris in their respective halqas to ensure revenue related issues are resolved at an earliest.

To expedite the process of revenue related matters, Veeri said Government had for the first time given powers to revenue matters to Additional Deputy Commissioners and Sub District magistrates other than ACRs.

Acknowledging that mobility of officers will help the revenue officers to check the progress of all departments in their jurisdiction, the Minister said department is in progress of acquiring more vehicles for the Tehsildar and above rank officers.

Veeri directed the officers to set up toll-free numbers for the disposal of grievances and complaints regarding Revenue Department at the district level as well. He further said the aim of establishing grievance cells besides redressing revenue related grievances is to bring more efficiency in the working of the Department.

The Minister sought report from all the Deputy Commissioners regarding the progress of various land acquisition cases like Reserve Category Certificate, Dependent Certificate, Income Certificate, Fard Intikhab, Extract of Girdawari, Extract of Massavi, Extract of Jamabandi, Attestation of Mutation, Marriage certificate and other related documents and asked them to expedite the process.
