Srinagar/Feb,18: Hundreds of vehicles, including those carrying essentials, left Jammu Sunday morning for Kashmir valley as only one-way traffic Jammu to Srinagar was allowed. Meanwhile the highway connecting Ladakh region with Kashmir and 86-km-long historic Mughal road remained closed.
A traffic police official said ‘keeping in view the condition of road besides avalanche warning issued on Saturday evening for next 24 hours, it was decided to continue only one-way traffic on the highway, official said this morning’.
He said today vehicles will ply from Jammu to Srinagar only and no vehicle from opposite direction, including security force convoy, would be allowed.
However, people are directed contact traffic police and Police Control Room (PCR) before starting their journey on the highway, he said.
Hundreds of vehicles, including trucks loaded with essentials, left different parts of Jammu region for Kashmir valley. Because there is still threat of landslides besides road widening and repair work was a continuous process, it was decided to allow only one-way traffic on the highway till further orders, he said.
Therefore, no vehicle will be allowed from Srinagar to Jammu today, he said.
