Pulwama: Accusing Government Forces of ‘excesses’ committed on them during nocturnal search operation, the locals from Karimabad village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district Saturday said that they were thrashed, abused while their properties were vandalized.
They alleged that Forces picked up youth during search operation and assaulted them physically on the spot while the family members of slain Hizb militant Naseer Pandit were targeted and thrashed as well.
“Government Forces comprising Army, CRPF and SOG of Jammu Kashmir Police cordoned off the village at around 4 am on Saturday morning. Without any provocation, people were thrashed. At least six youth were picked up and shifted to unknown destination,” the locals said.
The locals identified the arrested youth as Zubair Ahmed Pandit, Zahoor Ahmed Bhat, Babar Ahmed Pandit, Mehrajuddin, Urfi and Muhammad Saddam. Babar Pandit is the brother of slain Hizb militant Naseer Pandit.
A police official said that those arrested were ‘chronic’ stone-pelters. He denied that Forces touched any civilian or vandalized property.
