Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) vice-chairman Advocate Bashir Ahmad Bhat was arrested from his residence in Srinagar on Friday.
A JKLF spokesman said that a police party raided the residence of Bhat at Chanpora and arrested him. He said that a police party also raided the residence of the party leader Javid Ahmad Zargar.
The arrest and raids, he said, were conducted to prevent them from leading protests Friday (Saturday) against the killing of Hurriyat (G) leader Yousuf Nadeem by unidentified gunmen.
Joint Resistance Leadership has called for a shutdown tomorrow against the killing of Nadeem and shifting of Kashmiri prisoners from Srinagar central jail.
