Srinagar/Feb,17: MLA Langate and President Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) Er Rasheed on Saturday joined a group of Jablipora residents who had traveled from their village in south Kashmir to Srinagar to demand removal of an army camp from a playground there.

Rasheed also asked chief minister Mehbooba Mufti to act instead of tweeting over rape and murder of a minor girl in Kathua.

The protesters, including Rasheed, who staged a demonstration at Press Enclave in Srinagar, raised slogans against the government and demanded removal of army camp from the village.

The protestors also burned cricket gear and questioned establishing an army camp in the village when already two camps exist over there.

Talking to reporters Er Rasheed said: “They (army) should remove that camp, as youth play on that ground where they have established a camp”.

He lashed out at Union government for ‘falsely’ portraying ‘Khelo India’ programme.

“On one hand, Modiji is trumpeting Khelo India, while playground is snatched in Kashmir from the youth,” he said.

MLA Langate also took a jibe at chief minister as according to him she has failed to demilitarize Kashmir. “Mehboobajee had been advocating demilitarization. Why then does she want to turn south Kashmir into an army garrison?” he asked.

He also threatened of launching an agitation if army camp was not removed forthwith at Jablipora.

On yesterday’s comments of chief minister Mehbooba Mufti over protests held by Hindu Ekta Manch in favor of the accused SPO in rape and murder of minor Kathua girl, Rasheed said that instead of taking to social networking websites, she should have acted against the “hooligans”.

“She is the chief minister. She has to act. She has not to go for tweets,” Rasheed told Greater Kashmir, adding “…. I want to ask CM sahiba that she should have slapped PSAs (public safety act) on 15 -16 hooligans. Since this law is for those…”

Rasheed also termed use of tri color in the protests of Hindu Ekta Munch as “desecration” of it, while saying that they are “real” anti nationals.

“They also desecrated tri color. They are real anti nationals. Is raping and murdering an eight old girl nationalism. Is tri color meant for shielding criminals, “ Rashid asked.

He added that protesting people should not give this communal color and instead look at it with humanity. “She was daughter of whole Jammu and above all daughter of whole humanity,” he said.
