Srinagar: Minor clashes erupted at Drabgam village in Pulwama district between government forces and protesters after the former launched a cordon-and-search-operation (CASO) on Friday.
Reports said that youth took to streets and pelted the forces with stones as soon as the CASO was launched. Forces personnel comprising Jammu & Kashmir police, army’s Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) had cordoned off the village.
Witnesses said that massive forces were deployed in the village and house-to-house searches were launched in Hairgam area of Drabgam village.
An official said that a cordon and search operation was launched in the village following inputs about the presence of militants. “It was a “normal practice” by the forces that concluded peacefully,” he said.
