BJP’s questionable response

Running with the deer and hunting with the hound the BJP as usual the BJP running a coalition government with PDP instead of seeking explanation from the government of which it is itself a part shouted anti-pakistan slogans in the assembly. Interestingly the BJP commands and controls the central government with a thumping majority in the parliament and is part of the government in Jammu but yet the party as usual protests within and outside the assembly over the attacks on army camps in plain of Jammu & Kashmir valley and military encounters on borders in Jammu region. The central government looking after the affairs of the external security which obviously means security has failed to stop military encounters on borders dividing two parts of Jammu & Kashmir. The muscular policy adopted by Narendra Modi led BJP government with the launch of “surgical strike” against Pakistan last year have failed to stop the military encounter on border in Jammu & Kashmir and consequently the increasing intensity in military encounters on borders has rendered the border population restless particularly in the aftermath of civilian killings in cross border shelling incidents. Even this time the BJP government at the centre is tending to continue its muscular policy on the borders. Unfortunately the BJP top brass does not bother to pay any heed to the repeated demands for dialogue with Pakistan raised by its own ally the PDP to ensure the full implementation of the 2003 ceasefire agreement reached between the then Vajpayee government with Pakistan .
Mouthing words of appreciation for the Vajpayee’s policy on Pakistan and Kashmir but pursuing a muscular policy resulting in the dance of death and destruction both in plains and border areas in Jammu & Kashmir is disrespect to the Vajpayee’s vision of peace and Kashmiriyat. Experiencing more troubles but not improvements in the situation by pursuing the policy of cordon and search operations (CASO) in plains of Kashmir valley and military encounters on borders in Jammu region is in itself an indication that dialogue remains the only way out. Even in her address to the budget session of the state assembly on the last day of the just concluded Budget session the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti said that dialogue, not wars can bring lasting peace to Jammu & Kashmir. BJP top brass particularly Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Rajnath Singh have to understand that shouting anti-Pakistan slogans within and outside the assembly by BJP legislators of Jammu & Kashmir can’t restore peace in the state but the solution to the current crisis in Jammu & Kashmir lies in a bold initiative of the Narendra Modi led central government for a dialogue with Pakistan to end killing of civilians in border areas and separatist leadership in Kashmir to address the core political concerns of the angered populations of the state.
