Jammu: Speaker, J&K Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta Saturday distributed LPG connections to eligible beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) in Gangyal .
Highlighting the objectives of the Scheme, the Speaker said the aim of the Scheme is to empower women belonging to under privileged sections of the society and protecting their health by providing clean cooking fuel. He said over five thousand LPG connections have been provided to beneficiaries of Gandhi Nagar Constituency under the Scheme.
The Speaker said various developmental works are being executed under several sectors in the area. He said a comprehensive plan has been formulated to take up works on beautification of parks, construction works of roads, lanes and drains in Gangyal area.
Earlier, the Speaker visited the the family of late Parkasho Devi and expressed his condolences. He also handed over a cheque amounting to Rs 25,000 to NoKs of the deceased from Red Cross Relief Fund.
