Kulgam: The Additional Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, inaugurated a livestock show-cum-sheep awareness camp at Town Hall here Saturday.
The camp was organized by Sheep Husbandry Department to encourage breeders from across the district to undertake the activity on professional lines.
The camp was informed that the district is having a total sheep population of 1.77 lakh, besides the mutton production has reached up to 9 lakh kilogra The department is having 45 Sheep Extension Centres in addition to five First Aid Centres in the district divided into 5 intensive sheep blocks.
On the occasion, the ADDC urged upon the people and unemployed youth, in particular, to opt for sheep rearing activity and associate themselves with the establishment of sheep units for socio-economic development.
