Comr JMC discusses Red Cross fair arrangements

Jammu: On the directions of Divisional Commissioner Jammu Hemant Kumar Sharma, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Ramesh Kumar to discuss the arrangements for the annual 2-day Red Cross fair.

The Red Cross fair is commencing from February 17, 2018 at Police Gulshan Ground, Jammu. The fair is being organized by Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Jammu Region. The objective of Red Cross fair is to create awareness among the general masses regarding Red Cross Society and generate funds for the welfare activities of the society.

Threadbare discussions were held with regard to arrangements for uninterrupted power and water supply, security, sanitation, cleanliness, law and order, regulation of traffic, parking space, publicity, food stalls, cultural programs, medicare, preparation of stage and installation of stalls at the venue.

It was decided that health and sanitation wing of JMC will ensure cleanliness of ground from 16 to 18 February besides sufficient number of dustbins will be placed at different locations in the ground. Mobile toilets units will also be stationed in the ground to ensure cleanliness in and around the venue.

Traffic authorities were asked to ensure smooth flow of traffic to contain congestions and traffic jams in the area. The meeting was told that various stalls of government and private agencies for displaying their products would be installed during the fair.

To make the event more attractive, Inter-District group dance and singing competition and cultural items will be performed during the fair besides stalls of ethnic food like dogri dishes, wazwan, kashmiri kehwa, fast food item will be put up in the fair by JKTDC and private agencies.

Various departments including JKTDC, Horticulture, Handloom, Tourism and Industries were asked to showcase their products during the fair. Commissioner JMC asked the concerned to work with great synergy and maintain close liaison to make the event a grand success.

Among others, ADC Jammu Kanta Rukwal, SE R&B Desh Raj, SE PDD A. K. Sachdeva, SE PHE Ajay Singh Wazir, Joint Director Information Jammu Naresh Kumar, Joint Director Horticulture Tarvinder Singh, Joint Director Handloom Namrita Dogra, Principal GGM Science College Dr. Satinder Singh, Principal GCW Gandhi Nagar Jammu Prof. Kaushal Smotra, ARTO Jammu Jahangir Khan, besides other senior officers from CRPF, BSF, Police, Civil administration and Red Cross also attended the meeting.
