Jammu: A team of Officers and Officials from Drugs & Food Control Organization Friday conducted surprise inspection of chemist shops operating within the Katra Town.
The exercise was conducted as a part of drive to eradicate the menace of drug addiction.
During the inspection, M/s Asha Medicos, M/s Durga Medical Hall, M/s A V Medicos and M/s Happy Home Medicate shops were found operating without services of approved competent staff and the operations of the above establishments were disallowed on spot.
Show cause notices were issued to M/s Puneet Medicos, M/s New S P Medicat M/s Atul Medical Hall under the provisions of Drugs and Cosmetics Act and Rules there under after observing that the units were violating breaches of the provisions of prescribed regulations.
About 16 samples of various drug formulations of categories viz., antibiotics, anti hypertensive, anti allergic and veterinary items were lifted for testing/analysis and referred to Government Analyst for opinion with reference to their quality.
The members of trade fraternity were impressed upon to cooperate with the authorities and help to eradicate the social evil of drug menace. The records of sale of drugs falling under Schedule H and H1 should be maintained strictly as per mandated legal provisions, he added.
It was made clear that the department shall initiate severe punitive actions against such pharmacies who indulge in any unfair/unethical trade practices.
