Budgam: Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Mohammad Harun Malik Thursday flagged-off a day-long exposure-cum-training tour of 50 progressive sheep breeders to Daksum sheep breeding and rearing farm.
The tour was organized by the Sheep Husbandry Department Budgam under the centrally sponsored Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) scheme.
Earlier, the DC interacted with the sheep breeders and urged them to get themselves acquainted with the latest scientific technologies through such exposure-cum-training programs.
He said district Budgam has huge potential for the breeding and rearing of sheep and can provide entrepreneurship and employment avenues to youth.
District Sheep Husbandry Officer Budgam Dr Mohammad Rafi Wani, said the aim of the tour is to provide awareness to the breeders regarding the scientific management and rearing of sheep.
He said there are over 5000 sheep breeders in the district and the department has been conducting various such programs to encourage breeders and attract educated youths towards entrepreneurship in sheep husbandry sector.
