Srinagar/Feb,6: A policeman was Tuesdau killed and another injured on Tuesday in a militant attack on a police party escorting a group of detenues at SMHS hospital Srinagar for treatment .
A top police official said a militant opened fire on a police party accompanying a group of around seven detenues for medical check-up at the hospital.
“Two policemen were injured in the attack. One of them succumbed while the other one is being treated at the hospital,” he said.
Bhat said that one of the detenues, identified as Naveed – a Pakistani militant – managed to flee.
He said that red alert has been sounded in Srinagar and the area cordoned off to nab him and the assailant.
