J&K Police on forefront in sports and in organization of sports events: DGP

Jammu: The opening ceremony of 66th B.N. Mullik Memorial All India Police Football Championship  was held in a at Gulshan Ground, here today. The event was declared open by Governor J&K, N.N. Vohra.

Minister for Horticulture, Syed Basharat Ahmed Bukhari, Member parliament, Nazir Ahmad Laway and galaxy of Civil, serving and retired police officers among others witnessed the colourful function.

On the occasion, Director General of Police J&K, Dr. S. P.Vaid said in his welcome address that All India Police Sports Control Board New Delhi has entrusted responsibilities to J&K Police to host 66th edition of Bhola Nath Mullik Memorial All India Police Football Championship, adding that he has directed officers to ensure admirable arrangements for the players & officials participating in the Championship.

Referring to the achievement of Jammu and Kashmir police in the field of sports, DGP said that J &K Police has won more than 120 medals in various All India Police Games.

Dr. Vaid further said that J&K Police has been on forefront in sports and in organization of sports events. J&K Police has so far  hosted many  All India Police Games/Events   which include All India Police Water Sports(thrice), Golf (GOs) and Hockey (twice), Band, Football, Lawn Tennis(Gos), Volleyball and Wrestling Clusters, successfully and professionally, he added.

DGP while giving details about the event said that  37 teams from all over India are participating in this event and this Football Championship will be conducted on league cum knock out basis under the aegis  and in accordance with the rules and regulations of All India Police Sports Control Board. He said that J&K Football Association (JKFA) is actively associated with J&K Police, in this event as well

ADGP, Armed Arun Kumar Choudhary in his speech thanked all the dignitaries, guests, media persons for gracing the ceremony. He said that efficient arrangements have been put in place for conducting the championship smoothly.
