Jammu: Authorities on Thursday closed 71 schools as the armies of India and Pakistan continued to trade fire and shelling along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Officials said that firing exchange began at 7:45 am in Lam and Pukharni areas of Nowhera in Rajouri district.
Both sides resorted to the use of small arms and mortars, they said.
An official said that Pukharni, Kampala, Barat Gala, Rattal and Veer Badeshwar villages have comes under mortar fire.
The district administration has ordered the closure of 71 schools in villages hit by shelling.
As per Government data, 25 people have been killed in last two years along the International Border (IB) and Line of Control (LoC) while 162 have been injured.
