‘Goons cut off water supply to Rasana muslims after murder of minor girl’, Says NC MLA

Jammu: National Conference MLA from Mendhar Javed Rana Thursday alleged that “goons ” have cut off supply of drinking water to Muslim population in Rasana village of Kathua after the murder of an eight-year-old Bakerwal girl recently.
Raising the issue during the question hour, National Conference MLA from Mendhar Javed Rana said that Muslims living in minority in the area are being harassed by goons in Samba, Jammu and Kathua districts.
“The anti-social elements have cut off drinking water supply to the Muslims living in minority in the area. The water supply should be immediately restored”, said Rana.
The NC MLA also alleged that the goons of the areas didn’t allow the muslims even to perform the burial of the girl brutally raped and murdered.
It is in place to mention here that a Bakerwal girl named Asifa was kidnapped and was kept in a cowshed for seven long days by her abductors who allegedly raped and murdered her later. Following an uproar in the assembly the government suspended the SHO and handed over the investigation of the case to the Crime Branch of Jammu and Kashmir Police. A magisterial probe has been also ordered by the government to identify the culprits and punish them. So far the government has not claimed any breakthrough in the investigation conducted by Crime Branch and a judicial magistrate separately.
