Srinagar: Clashes erupted in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thursday after youth staged a protest against the death of a minor in Shopian.
Musharaf Fayaz of Datmudoor hamlet in Shopian succumbed to his injuries in the wee hours Thursday after battling for life for nearly a week at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura.
He had suffered critical injuries in his head and face after an unexploded shell went off at the gunfight site in Shopian district last week.
An eye witness said that youth took to streets and staged protests at at Murran Chowk and Rajpora Chowk after the news of boy’s death spread in the area.
The forces responded by firing tear gas at the protesters, triggering further clashes.
