Sopore/Jan,31: A complete shutdown is being observed in Sopore town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Wednesday to mourn the killing of a goldsmith whose body was recovered from riverJhelum after over a month Tuesday this wek.
Tariq Ahmad Malik (31) of Kalaroos Kupwara, who was putting up at Baba Yousuf Sopore was murdered after his abduction allegedly by four jewelers from his shop at Chota Bazar Sopore on December 26. Police said that the accused strangulated Malik to death and looted jewelry from his shop before dumping his body into Jhelum.
Traders Federation Sopore had called for shutdown today in Sopore town in solidarity with the slain goldsmith. Bar Association Sopore, fruit growers and dealers association fruit Mandi Sopore and Industrial Manufacturing Association Sopore have supported the shutdown call given by trade body.All shops and small business establishments remained closed in Sopore town. However, traffic was plying normally. The funeral prayers of the deceased will be offered at 2 pm at Iqbal market Sopore.
