Shopian shuts for 6th consecutive day

Pulwama :As the shutdown against the killing of local militants and 2 civilians enters sixth day in Shopian district Tuesday, the internet service in the twin districts of South Kashmir including Pulwama and Shopian continues to be shut.
The snapping of internet service has added to problems of local population.
Earlier this month as well, the internet service in Pulwama district was snapped for four consecutive days.
Reports said that all shops, business establishments, government and private offices are closed in Shopian district while public and private transport is off the roads.
Two civilians – Javaid Ahmad Bhat of Balpora Shopian and Suhail Javaid Lone of Gawanpora were killed on Saturday afternoon when army opened fire on protesters in Ganowpora.
Meanwhile, people continue to visit the residences of slain civilians to express sympathy and solidarity with their families.
When contacted District Magistrate Pulwama GM Dar said that mobile internet service will be restored shortly provided situation remains normal in the town.
