CM’s irresponsible response to BJP’s intolerance

Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti is trying to challenge the increasing resentment against the incumbent central government headed by Narendra Modi for encouraging the forces of intolerance within and outside Jammu & Kashmir state. Instead of challenging the views of Mufti Nasir ul Islam the Kashmir’s deputy grand mufti ,Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti must have mustered the courage to object to the streets marches of RSS on streets in Jammu city and other areas of Jammu region for the first time in last seventy years . Unfortunately the Chief Minister allowed the BJP to extend patronage to cow vigilantes in muslim dominated parts of Pir Panchal areas in Rajouri and Poonch districts. Last but not the least the Chief Minister should have woke from the deep slumber to see even Congress MLA from Banihal Vikar Rasool challenging the government to either give share to his constituency from Jammu region or allow his constituency to be part of Kashmir valley. The BJP’s dominance in the distribution of finances and development projects has risen to such alarming levels that MLA owing allegiance to the oldest national level political party of the country the Congress has been forced to raise the demand for the administrative annexing of his constituency with Kashmir valley instead of Jammu region. This shows the intolerance of the BJP sharing power with PDP in the state against the constituencies of the Jammu region represented by MLAs from the muslim community. Surprisingly Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti did not find any reason to look into the causes of the resentment shown by Vikar Rasool against BJP even in the distribution of finances and developmental projects for his muslim dominated Banihal constituency but she found fault with Mufti Nasir Ul Islam the Kashmir’s Deputy Grand Mufti for supporting the demand of a separate state for muslims in India in view of the increasing intolerance shown by Modi government across the country.
Chief Minister has to understand that intolerance of the BJP on article 370 guaranteeing special status to Jammu & Kashmir state and Article 35 A governing property rights act in the state has landed her government in the Supreme court of the country just to defend the laws extended to the state for giving it the special status by the biggest law making body and top leadership of the country. So Chief Minister owes an explanation for her condemnation of the Mufti Nasir Ul Islam’s remark over demand for separate state for muslims in the country on the grounds that if Modi led BJP government at the centre could not oblige Mehbooba government with a simple affidavit in support of Article 35 A in the supreme court of the country then can the same government be expected to reassure muslims the second largest majority after hindus in the country of their religious freedom and rights even after continuing attacks of cow vigilantes and the constitutional and legal offensive against the muslims over triple talaq. Before advising the people of Jammu & Kashmir not to support the idea of a separate state for muslims of the country on communal lines, better and far better it would be for the Chief Minister to seek an assurance from the incumbent Modi led central government on religious freedom and rights of the muslims the second largest majority and the single largest minority in the country.
