B’pora:A 5-day long training program on commercial floriculture organized by Floriculture department in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Bandipora commenced here Tuesday.
Dean Students Welfare,SKUAST-K, Professor M A Sidiqi, Program Coordinator KVK, M H Samoon, Deputy Director Floriculture Kashmir Nazir Ahmad, besides other concerned and a large number of progressive farmers participated in the training program.
The scientists and other subject experts delivered their lectures on the latest scientific and commercial techniques of floriculture.They also replied to the queries raised by the farmers who are dealing with the floriculture business at ground level.
Speaking on the occasion, Dean SKUAST-K highlighted the importance of flower cultivation and applead the educated youth to adopt the attractive floriculture sector on commercial basis, adding that the sector has vast potential of income generation. He said various new and innovative schemes are underway which will reflect positive and fruitful results at ground level.
He also asked the KVK management to acquaint the farming community with latest techniques with the help of documentary films so that the floriculture sector is given a boost in the district.
The training program will conclude on February 03.
