Srinagar: Assistant Commissioner Food Safety Srinagar Monday asked the bakers, meat and chicken sellers to strictly adhere to set regulations and maintain good sanitary and hygienic conditions.
Bakers were advised to use sieve/hang for separating any foreign substances from atta or maida, restrict entry of rodents into their premises, install running water connections and use only stainless steel utensils.
Whereas, butchers and chicken sellers were asked not to expose parts of meat to dust, smoke and flies. Use corrosion free knives, balance and other utensils. Install running water connections and put in place floor tiling and wall tiling up to at least 6 feet of walls.
“Wooden chopping boards should be free from cracks and crevices harbouring unsafe microbes detrimental to health.”
All food business operators have been asked to adhere to the norms within a period of 15 days.
Assistant Commissioner Food Safety Srinagar said any food business operator found deficient in any of the aforementioned requirements, shall be booked under relevant provisions of Food Standard and Safety Act.
