Jammu/Jan,29: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday demanded the withdrawal of an FIR lodged against the army men in the killing of two civilians in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.
“The government should withdraw the FIR against the Army personnel and lodge a fresh FIR without naming anybody,” BJP’s RS Pathania said while speaking in the Assembly.
He questioned the registration of murder case against the army. “Why were serious charges levelled against the army?” he asked.
The criminal justice system, he said, doesn’t work under pulls and pressures.
Two youth – Javed Ahmad Bhat and Suhail Javed Lone – were shot dead by army in Ganowpora village of Shopian on Saturday.
Jammu and Kashmir government has ordered a magisterial probe into the incident. Police has filed a murder case against the army.
