Meet to Greet: Altaf, Priya interact with meritorious students

Jammu: Minister for Education, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari and Minister of State for Education, Priya Sethi interacted with a group of meritorious students here at a program ‘Meet to Greet’ organised to felicitate the toppers of recently declared board exam results for Kashmir valley and winter zone of Jammu.

Interacting with the students, the Ministers informed the students about various avenues and career options for which the government is supporting meritorious students by providing scholarships and other support.

The Ministers urged the students to take benefit of CM’s Super 50 coaching classes where aspirants are prepared by expert teachers for Engineering, medical and other professional courses.

Secretary School Education, Farooq Ahmed Shah, Additional Secretary, Musarat Islam, Director School Education Jammu, Ravinder Singh, Director School Education, Kashmir, GN Itoo, Director RMSA, Tufail Matoo and Director SSA, AR Waar and other senior officers were also present. The program was hosted by Directorate of School Education, Kashmir.

The Minister also asked the students to attend department’s awareness and counselling program being held to encourage the students to avail Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS) under which government facilitates admission of JK students in engineering, Medical, Humanities and Languages and other professional courses in reputed colleges of the country.

Altaf Bukhari listed the reforms being taken by the government to fill infrastructure gaps and capacity building of teachers and pupils to raise the standard of education and make it compatible with the latest market requirements. He encouraged the students to opt for the modern courses introduced at secondary, senior secondary and undergraduate courses to increase the employability of the passouts.

Minister of State for Education, Priya Sethi, while greeting the toppers, reiterated the government’s commitment to make the state a hub of education. She advised the students to strive for excellence and choose their career with great care. She also asked them to work hard to secure admission in national level Institutions established in the state.
