Srinagar: Despite witnessing some improvement, the night temperature remained several degree below freezing point though sun came out bringing much needed relief to the people from chilly weather conditions during the day in Kashmir valley.
Meanwhile, border towns of Leh in Ladakh region was the coldest place in the region at minus 15.2 degree followed by world famous ski resort of Gulmarg at minus 5 degree.
A met department spokesperson told UNI that weather will remain dry during the next 48 hours in Kashmir valley, which could result in dip in the night temperature.
The mercury at Leh dipped and settled at minus 15.2 degree, against minus 15 degree recorded on Saturday.
People woke up to a sunny Sunday morning in the summer capital, Srinagar, where night temperature witnessed some improvement though it remained several degrees below freezing point. Against minus 4.6 degree recorded on Saturday, the night temperature at Srinagar was minus 4.3 degree.
However, the world famous ski resort of Gulmarg, where ski slopes are under several feet of snow, witnessed a dip in the night temperature. Against minus 4.5 degree recorded on Saturday, the night temperature at the ski resort was minus 5 degree.
The mercury at Qazigund, gateway to the valley, Kupwara in north Kashmir and tourist resort of Kokernag surged and settled at minus 4.4 degree, minus 4.7 degree and minus 1.7 degree, respectively.
The night temperature at world famous health resort of Pahalgam, about 100 km from here in south Kashmir, also improved and settled at minus 4.8 degree, against minus 6.1 degree recorded on Saturday.
