About 2 lakh children being covered under IPPI

Srinagar: About two lakh children below the age of five years will be covered under Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) programme on January 28 for which 100 polio booths are being set up in the frontier district of Kupwara and Shopian.
An official spokesman said here on Sunday that Chief Medical Officer, Kupwara Parled Singh said that Health Department has made elaborate arrangements for intensifying the pulse polio immunisation in all 10 medical blocks of the district.
He informed for the purpose, 1,36,262 children up to age group of five years, have been targeted for administering the PPI at 717 polio booths. He further revealed that a manpower of 2,920 employees, which include 1221 medical, 950 ASHAS, 675 ICDS workers and 74 NGOs, 52 mobile teams, besides 146 supervisory staff are to be engaged for intensifying the programme at all block medical jurisdiction.
He informed that the district administration has constituted a team of officers to monitor the activities at different destinations, routes, entry-points that have been identified.
Meanwhile, Nodal Officer of district Shopian said that as many as 215 vaccination booths would be set up across the district during the campaign to cover 43,371 children in 0-5 year age group for vaccination.
He briefed that seven transit camps, 11 mobile teams along with 42 supervisors, three district monitors will be deployed in the district for polio immunization campaign in the district.
He said that no children below five years would be left without administering polio vaccination in the district and called upon the officers of Health, ICDS, Social Welfare and Education departments to work in tandem in making the district polio-free.
