Kargil Ice Hockey tournament concludes

Srinagar: The concluding ceremony of Ice-Hockey Tournament-2018, organized by District Police Kargil, was held at Ice-Hockey Rink Goshan Drass, Saturday.

The final match of the tournament was played on the closing ceremony in which Goshan-A Drass defeated Himalayan-B Drass by two goals and emerged as the Winner of the Tournament limiting Himalayan-B Drass with the Runner Up trophy.

On the occasion, amid a chilling cold weather Dy. Commissioner Kargil, Shri Gulzar Hussain who was the Chief Guest on the occasion lauded the efforts of District Police Kargil headed by SSP Kargil Shri T. Gyalpo for the promotion of Ice-Hockey at the Worlds second coldest inhabited place Drass. He also praised District Police Kargil for its people friendly policing inspite of the various challenges being faced by them.

SSP Kargil while addressing the gathering reiterated that District Police Kargil is committed to promote the young talents and giving them a positive direction so that they can prove their caliber and serve the nation in different roles.

Later, during the presentation ceremony, the Winning Team was rewarded with a cash prize  of Rs 15,000 whereas the Runner-Up team was rewarded with a cash prize of Rs.10,000, besides both the teams were awarded with the cash prizes, mementoes and certificates. Shri Shakeel Ahmed  and Zia Mir of  Goshan-A Drass were declared as the Man of the Series and Man of the Match respectively and were suitably rewarded.

Special rewards were also presented to Karl Watters, International Ice Hockey Coach from Canada, Wasim Hassan, Karate Coach for the promotion of Karate at Drass and Amin Polo for the promotion of Ice-Hockey.

Councilor Drass Haji Mohammad Shafi, ADC Kargil Shri Barkat Nizami, other civil officers, police officers and prominent citizens of Drass witnessed the closing ceremony.
