District admin Udhampur organizes traditional rural games

Udhampur: In order to promote Dogra culture and rural games, the District administration Udhampur in collaboration with Traditional Rural Games Foundation of India, an NGO, Saturday organized  traditional Rural Games on the auspicious occasion of  Lohri.

DDC Udhampur, Ravinder Kumar was the chief guest while SSP Udhampur Rayees Bhat   was the guest of honour on the occasion.

As many as 16  cultural items were presented by the artists in this traditional festival  viz  sports , Adventure, Music , Art, Dance, Acting, Song, Comedy, Qawali, Dogri Dance were performed by the artist  out of which near about 100 participants participated in the celebration of lohri festival.

While speaking on the occasion, DDC said the main motive of organizing this event is to promote Dogra culture. He said aim of holding traditional rural  games  in the district is  to provide platform to the new generation  to showcase their hidden talent  in the field of sports , Adventure, Music , Art, Dance, Acting, etc. He informed   that district administration take initiative to represent and magnify the traditional Dogra Culture and language.

DDC congratulated members of organizing committee, participants and general public and extended greeting on the Lohri festival. He said it is the   need of hour to generate awareness among youth regarding   games and sports and its importance to    inculcate moral values in youth and all round development of the child. He said Dogra culture is very  vast and it’s  duty and responsibility of every citizen  to  preserve this culture for new generation, he added.

On the occasion, District administration made elaborate arrangements like First Aid, barricading, sanitation, Transport, uninterrupted power supply, etc

Later, the chief guest distributed prizes among the participants who participated in the event.

Among others, District Officers of District Administration, President Beopar Mandal, Udhampur Surinder Singh Khalsa, members of NGO Foundation, participants besides prominent citizen were present on the occasion.
