Kulgam: A complete shutdown is being observed on the second consecutive day Thursday in Qaimoh and Khudwani areas of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district against the killing of slain Hizb ul Mujahideen militant and a civilian on Tuesday.
All shops, business establishments, government and private offices remained closed in these areas while public transport was off the roads. Farhan Ahmad Wani, a Hizb militant was killed in a gunfight in Larnoo village of Kokernag township in Anantnag district on Tuesday. On the same day, a civilian, Khalid Ahmad Dar was killed in army firing at Khudwani area of Kulgam district.
An eyewitness said that scores of people from different areas visited both Farhan and Khalid’s home at Khudwani to offer prayers.
Many religious scholars, pro-freedom leaders and locals thronged their residences to express sympathy and solidarity with their families. Meanwhile, mobile internet service has been restored in Anantnag, Kulgam and parts of Pulwama district.
