A UP resident among 2 arrested alongwith demonetized Rs 50 lakh in Kashmir

Srinagar: Two persons, including a resident of Uttar Pradesh (UP) were arrested alongwith Rs 50 lakh demonetized currency notes in the Kashmir valley, a police spokesman said here on Sunday afternoon.
He said a police party of Police Post Baghiyas led by the in-charge Sub-inspector Ajaz Ahmad apprehended two persons during a surprise naka checking near Batboni Baghiyas and recovered demonetized currency of rupees 50 lacs from their possession.
The accused were later identified as Nazir Ahmad Rather son of Mohammad Ramzan Rather resident of Syedpora Rafiabad and Akeel Ahmad Khan son of Ali Mohammad Khan resident of Kanpur UP at present Baramulla.
Accordingly, cognizance was taken under the specified Bank notes (cessation and liabilities) AcT, 2017 further investigation was taken up. These accused persons will be presented before the competent Court for judicial determination, he said.
