Jammu: Speaker J&K Legislative Assembly and MLA Gandhi Nagar, Kavinder Gupta paid a surprise visit to the office of SDM South and Tehsildar South Jammu, here Saturday.
He interacted with the people there and enquired about the purpose of their visit besides enquiring about difficulties, if any, being faced by them in these offices.
The people gave him several suggestions for improving the public, administration interface and facilitate smooth functioning of these revenue offices.
On his visit the Speaker also checked the attendance of the officials, their regularity, etc.
The Speaker also asked the SDM and Tehsildar to take special care as to ensure presence of a senior officer in the office so that people do not face unnecessary delays in getting their issues addressed.
Later, the Speaker also inaugurated deep drain construction works at GadiGarh, being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 9 lakh.
The project is being executed by UEED.
Speaking on the occasion, the Speaker said this project fulfills a long standing demand of the people for augmentation of the deep drain network to improve sanitation in the area.
He also inspected the quality and progress on blacktopping work on Roi morh upto Banyan International School, being executed by PWD (R&B) department.
Executive Engineer UEED Mohd Taj, AEE’s and prominent citizens were present on the occasion.
