Jammu: M. Raju, Secretary PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, accompanied by Ashok Gandotra, Chief Engineer PHE, called on Governor N. N. Vohra at the Raj Bhavan, here Thursday.
Governor discussed with Secretary and Chief Engineer PHE about issues relating to the increasing requirement of water supply for the pilgrimage and to meet the requirements of the Shrine’s supporting establishments. After disscussions it was agreed that Secretary PHE shall hold a further meeting with CEO Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and other concerned officers for a complete review and assessment of arising demands.
Raju also briefed Governor about measures being taken for augmenting drinking water supply and irrigation facilities in various parts of the State for effectively meeting the existing and the speedily increasing demands in both these sectors and status of utilization of the available resources under various Central schemes. Governor advised high priority attention to the Jhelum dredging project.
