Srinagar/Dec,27: Traffic on Srinagar-Jammu highway was suspended Wednesday morning after a truck loaded with apples turned turtle on the road near Banihal.
An official said that a truck, bearing registration number PN 29M 9909 on way to Bangalore from Shopian turned turtle on the highway near Nachilana, 10 km from Banihal, around 8:45 am.He said both the driver and the conductor of the truck escaped with minor injuries. The driver was identified as Lakhvir Singh, son of Inderjeet Singh of Munga village of Punjab and the conductor was identified as Lucky Sharma, son of Ram Prasad of Barnala Punjab. However, traffic was suspended on the highway from both the sides after the accident, said the official.
“Traffic police has pressed recovery cranes in service to remove the truck from the middle of the road. It will take one more hour to restore traffic on the highway,” said a traffic official. Traffic was allowed to move from Kashmir to Jammu today.
