Srinagar: Police on Wednesday said that a driver involved in a hit-and-run case was arrested within 24 hours of the incident.
The accused, a spokesman said, had fled after hitting a pedestrian in Kangan area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district. The pedestrian, identified as Abdur Rashid Wani (55), resident of Mammer Kangan was shifted to Trauma Hospital Kangan from where he was referred to SKIMS Soura.
“In this regard, case FIR No 113/2017 under sections 279, 337 RPC was registered in Police Station Kangan and a manhunt was launched to nab the culprit,” said the spokesman.
“After strenuous efforts put in by Police Station Kangan, the vehicle (Alto bearing registration No UP16F 5199) was tracked and the driver Farooq Ahmad Ahangar son of Mushtaq Ahmad Ahangar resident of Surfraw was arrested within 24 hours of the incident.”
