DIC Udhampur organizes awareness-cum-registration workshop on ZED Certification

Udhampur: In an objective to create massive awareness among the Micro, Small, Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to achieve zero defect in manufacturing of various products and to improve competitiveness, General Manager, District Industries Centre, Udhampur in collaboration with ZED (Zero Effect Zero Defect) division of Quality Council of India Tuesday organized a workshop at SICOP Complex here at Battal Ballian in Udhampur.

As many as 45 MSMEs were registered free of cost for ZED certification on the spot. General Manager, District Industries Centre, Udhampur, Suram Chand Sharma presided over the function, whereas Manik Gupta, Assistant Director, ZED, QCI, Government of India was the guest of honor. He divulged in detail the benefits of ZED certification in improving quality of goods manufactured by the MSMEs that enables them to compete globally. He informed that the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi launched this ambitious scheme titled “Financial Support to MSMEs in ZED Certification of MSMEs” under Ministry of MSMEs, Government of India. The Quality Council of India, QCI was nominated as the Nodal agency for implementation of this scheme. ZED Model will assist the MSMEs to gradually build their competence and achieve the desired level of excellence in a structural manner, he added.

General Manager District Industries Centre Udhampur, Suram Chand Sharma in his welcome address termed the workshop which is first of its kind in the state as milestone in improving the manufacturing process which shall go a long way in achieving the desired quality standards thus enabling the MSMEs to compete the national as well as global markets. He also exhorted upon the industrialists to avail the benefits of the scheme by registering themselves under ZED certification.

The objective of the scheme is to achieve Zero Defect manufacturing in MSMEs, providing quality tools, promote energy efficient manufacturing and to support   “Make In India” campaign, increase productivity, Expand Market base, reduce wastage, develop new products and processes, he disclosed.
