Jammu:Vice Chairman Handloom and Handicraft Development Corporations, Nizam-ud-din Bhat, Friday said the Corporations are an asset for the state’s economy through sustainability of art and craft and better marketing.

While asking the management of the Corporations to work in close Coordination, Bhat directed them to mobilize the available resources in full to improve the business of the hand-made products and remain actively involved in the trade so that the reputation and good will of Kashmir art and Handloom remains intact. He said artisans and weavers are a valuable asset and they are the real beneficiaries of sales and business adding that more incentives need to be contemplated to improve this lot.

VC said the Corporations have been given a target to ensure that all show rooms and sale centres accomplish the task given to them by the respective Boards. “Any failure’ in taking out the directions in a desirable manner can entail loss of incentives to employees responsible”, he added.

Bhat said the Corporations are following the employee-friendly policy since its inception and employees have an obligation that the devlop Corporations flourish and become a viable tool to carry out defined objectives including securing the interests of artisans and weavers. He expressed happiness and satisfaction that the sale centres at Bombay, Kolkata, Delhi, Goa and Lucknow are receiving good response to their Handicraft and Handloom products from the lovers of Kashmir art.

He said he had recently visited Delhi centres where he was apprised of various issues regarding further streamlining of these sale outlets. “Chairman of the Corporations and administrative heads also are focused on ameliorating the lot of employees, artisans, weavers and workers”, the VC affirmed.  He said the management is making an effort to expand and make the infrastructure updated and innovative.

The VC said possibilities are being explored to reopen the Handicraft show room at Kashmir House in Prithvi Raj Road.
