Srinagar: The 400KVA Transformer located near Dilshan Hotel Umerabad, HMT , sect 3 has turned faulty on 11th December 2017 with the result the area comprising of 200 households & shops has plunged into darkness .The Transformer was replaced Tuesday this week but again got faulty as soon as it was charged & later taken to work shop again:
The problem is lying with Electric Div 3rd who are managing a metered load of 468 KW with Transformer capacity of 320 KW capacity and the result is evident. The deptt is bound to supply power at 220 Volt but the area gets voltage from 30-60 Volts resulting in damage gadgets & LED lamps. The drop in voltage has futher been aggrevated by long distance LT lines as the coverage area is more than KM from the the location of the Transformer:
The locals have been continuing with the request of installing another Transformer in the area for the last 4 years but the authorities have been avoiding on the pretext that this area has been approved for new scheme under R PDA . Last July small Transformers have been installed in all the by lanes but have not been provided with HT conductor.
The locals have decided to launch a peaceful protest against the Electric Authorities on Srinagar-Baramulla highway
