Srinagar: Director Agriculture Kashmir, Syed Altaf Aijaz Andrabi Monday said a composite strategy for the development and promotion of Mushroom Sector and incorporating entrepreneurial culture in this field can help in addressing unemployment to a large extent.
The Director made these remarks at a meeting here which was attended by scientists, experts, Mushroom Development Officers and other concerned.
The Director called upon the mushroom scientists and concerned officers to devise a future strategy which could be inclusive, composite and multidimensional and should meet out all the requirement of the State in terms of jobs and entrepreneurship. He said the machines and equipments for different projects should be purchased strictly according to the set guidelines, keeping in mind the future needs.
Director impressed upon the scientists and concerned officers to design the blue print of different projects and schemes that should be in cohesion with the job market and should have capacity to provide sustainable employment to considerable number of unemployed youth of the state.
He said mushroom cultivation is an important allied wing of Agriculture that can contribute to the overall socioeconomic status of the farming community.
He said training programs in Mushroom Cultivation should be conducted for the youth, so that they can adopt this industry. He asked the concerned officers to work in close coordination with commitment and dedication, so that the targets can be achieved within set timeframe. He said all the financial activities should be maintained electronically for the promotion of digitization and e-governance in the department. He said complete guidance should be provided to the interested farmers so that they can develop their mushroom units and after that, visits by the functionaries and experts should be ensured that would help their units to thrive on scientific lines.
Earlier, Project Coordinator Mushroom, Abdul Qayoom Shah gave a detailed presentation of different activities carried out by the department at different levels and future plans for the implementation of different schemes and projects.
