Jammu: Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta Monday said the government has expedited the process of distributing new ration cards among the people at their doorsteps.
The Speaker said this during an awareness camp organized by the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs to facilitate the people in getting new ration cards and inform them about the procedure for getting the corrections done.
While addressing the gathering, the Speaker asked the people to take maximum benefit of the camp by submitting their duly filled forms to the officers. He appealed them to take benefit of state and centrally sponsored schemes including Ujwala Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Surakhsha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), Atal Pension Yojana (APY), Pradhan Mantra Awas Yojana (PMAY) and others.
He said the government is determined to provide quality ration to state’s consumers especially the underprivileged sections of the society. Providing basic amenities to the public is the foremost priority of the government, he added.
Several flagship programs have been launched by the government to improve the socio-economic condition of the weaker sections of the society, he said, adding various developmental projects have been initiated for development of Gandhi Nagar.
On being apprised of the problems and development needs of the area, the Speaker assured locals that all their genuine concerns will be looked into on priority. He also directed the concerned officials to take adequate measures to mitigate the problems of the people in a time bound manner.
