Srinagar: Bodies of two soldiers missing after an avalanche hit the Gurez region of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district last Sunday were recovered Monday. Another soldier continues to remain missing.
A rescue operation was launched after the avalanche hit the Baktore area of Gurez last Sunday night.
An official said that two bodies of missing soldiers were recovered near Baktore along with weapons at around 3:00 pm Monday after seven days.
He said that another soldier is still missing. However, search and rescue operation is still on to trace him.
The soldiers, whose bodies were recovered Monday, were identified as Shiv Singh and Pramanik.
The soldiers belonged to army’s 36 RR Unit, stationed at Baktore area of Gurez.
