Srinagar: Police on Saturday said that it recovered a body of Pakistani militant from Eid Gah area of Tral in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district. While a complete shutdown was observed to mourn the death of the militant in Tral town , the government forces were continuing searches in the area to nab the other militants who they believed were injured in an accidental IED explosion.
DGP S P Vaid said that the Pakistani militant died while fabricating the explosive material in Handoora Tral.
“While fabricating IED in a hideout near Handura Aripal Tral explosion took place in which one militant of reportedly JEM died whose body has been recovered by J&K Police/ SF”, DGP Tweeted.
A police official said they recovered a letter lying close to the body of militant that claimed the militant died in a mine blast. The letter identifies the deceased as Umar from Pakistan. He said that further investigations have been launched into the incident and the body has been taken for post mortem and other legal Medico formalities.
Massive search operation is underway since morning in several villages of Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district to look for rest of the militants believed to be injured in an accidental IED explosion that left a militant dead. Search operation was launched immediately after the incident in Wagad, Pastuna, Seer and Handura villages and continued till this report was filed in late evening hours on Saturday
Meanwhile, Tral observed a complete shutdown to mourn the death of a Jaish-e-Muhammad militant.Locals said that all shops and business establishments pulled down their shutters soon after the news about the militant body spread in the town.
