Srinagar/Dec,16: A militant’s body was recovered by locals on Saturday from Eidgah area in Tral township in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

The body of the militant was recovered by locals during wee hours after people were coming out from mosques, an eyewitness said, adding, police immediately reached at the spot and took the body into their custody.

A plain letter was also attached with the body which read that the deceased was a non-local Jaish-e-Mohammad militant. “He was killed when an IED went off accidentally in some forest area. Kindly bury him at the earliest,” read the letter.

A senior police official said locals informed police about the dead body present in Eidgah Tral. Police reached at the spot and took the body for legal formalities.

“The militant was killed when some mine blast went off outside a hideout at Handura forest area of Tral,” he added.

DGP S P Vaid said that the Pakistani militant died while preparing the explosive material in Handura Tral.

“While fabricating IED in a hideout near Handura Aripal Tral explosion took place in which one militant of reportedly JEM died whose body has been recovered by J&K Police/ SF,” tweeted DGP
