Kashmir pays tribute to front Hizb commander Shams-ul-Haq

Srinagar: Separatist leaders as well as people from different walks of life here in Kashmir Valley paid rich tributes to Ghulam Muhammad Mir alias Shamsul Haq on his 24th martyrdom anniversary.
A large number of people visited martyrs grave yard here in Eidgah Srinagar and paid rich tribute to the slain commander. Some of them who visited the graveyard included Javaid Ahmed Mir, Zafar Akbar Bhat, Musadiq Adil, General Mosa, Abdul Hamid and Advocate Babar Qadri.
The leaders from Jamat-e-Islami and People’s League also visited the grave yard on Saturday morning.
They said the sacrifices given towards the Kashmir resistance movement will bear the fruits.
The leaders said that earth of Kashmir is wounded and revolutionized by blood of militant and local population and now it is their duty to safeguard these sacrifices and be steadfast on path of freedom. They asserted that since 1947 Kashmiris browbeaten nation has given immense sacrifices and despite all odds and ocean of cruelties unleashed by Indian state dawn of freedom will be witnessed soon.
They said Shamus-Haq’s supreme sacrifices have taught them a lesson and no stone would be left unturned to take the mission of martyrs to its logical conclusion.
Shamus-ul-Haq was a front Hizb commander who hails from Sonar Kulipora area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district. He was killed in a gunfight with Indian Forces in 1993.
The slain commander was a close aide of incumbent Hizbul Mujhadeen Chief Syed Salahuddin and was a candidate for Muslim United Front from Beerwah Budgam in 1987.
