Srinagar: Militant outfit Hizbul Mujahideen Saturday paid rich tributes to Shams-ul-Haq and said that even after the expiry of 24 years of his ‘martyrdom’ he is still an inspiration for the freedom lovers.
During a meeting of Hizb Command Council under the chairmanship of Hizb Chief Syed Salahuddin, glorious tributes were paid to Haq and it was reiterated that, “Kashmir struggle will continue till the last drop of our blood and no one will be allowed to betray the sacred movement.”
As per a statement issued to local news gathering agency CNS, Syed Salahuddin said that Haq was not only a Hizb Commander but was also a mentor, savant, scholar and spiritual leader. “He sacrificed his life for the sacred cause and we are indebted to him,” he said.
“His supreme sacrifices have taught us a lesson and God willing no stone would be left unturned to take the mission of martyrs to its logical conclusion.”
The meeting was also addressed by Hizb top brass Shamsher Khan and Taj Ali Shah and Deputy Chief Saifullah Khalid.
that Kashmir Freedom Struggle can’t be crushed and decimated.
Pertinently, “Shams-ul-Haq, who had done his post graduation in four subjects, spurned the government service and joined Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu Kashmir. He was one of the founder members of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen and played a key role in preparing the outfit constitution and manifesto.
He was put to death by 7 Dogra Regiment soon after his arrest along with his three associates on 16 December 1993 at Watarpora, Budgam. “My father was a reputed Islamic scholar and top HM commander who was first arrested and then put to death by a 7 Dogra Regiment officer. This killing paved way for the promotion of that said officer who was known to people as ‘Ulti Topi Wala’. His son said adding that the three other associates of Shamsul Haq who were also killed by 7 Dogra Regiment were Khazar Muhammad Dar resident of Aripanth, Abdul Qayoom Sheikh resident of Sonar Kulipora and Ashiq Hussain Bhat resident of Kanihama Budgam.
He said in the same month Ali Muhammad Mir, the brother of Shams-ul-Haq was murdered by infamous government gun man Muma Kana who was later on awarded by the State Government.
